Stormwater runoff from the surrounding area flows into the Rockflow system via a street gully or manhole.

Rockflow stone wool not only retains water but also has a purifying effect. A significant amount of suspended particles and chemical pollution is filtered out of the water.

The collected and cleaned water is slowly returned to the ground. There, the water is again available for surrounding trees and greenery. This is how Rockflow contributes to a natural water cycle in urban areas.

As the Rockflow system is filled with water from below, the air escapes at the top through the ventilation duct. This allows the system to fill with water very swiftly.
