Rockflow water management systems are made from stone wool elements with up to 95% pore volume. Rockflow systems are widely used for the collection, storage, filtration and delay of rainwater in urban areas. The system is installed underground with integrated distribution channels that efficiently direct the water in and out. In high groundwater levels, Rockflow acts as an underground drain, removing excess groundwater while filtering and attenuating rainwater. The system collects particles and pollutants and can be flushed to maintain capacity and an operating life of over 50 years. Rockflow operates passively – without the need for power or advanced control.

In Maasbracht, Rockflow was used as a passive drainage and filtration solution in a residential area with high groundwater levels and frequent flooding. The system was installed under roads and paths and collected both rainwater and rising groundwater. Rockflow delayed the runoff and reduced the load on the sewage system. The system operated without pumps.
