Treating and infiltrating stormwater runoff with Rockflow stone wool
Climate change is causing more weather extremes. In recent years, examples abound of problems caused by water shortage and flooding. One of the solutions is the storage of rainwater to prevent flooding during peak showers.
The infiltration of rainwater (instead of drainage) is increasingly common and contributes to climate adaptation strategies. The infiltrated rainwater replenishes groundwater and takes pressure off the sewers.
Our groundwater is an important source of drinking water. Unfortunately, the quality of our water bodies is under great pressure due to pollution. Therefore, ensuring the quality of our surface water and groundwater is a growing concern.
Rainwater runoff that has come into contact with roads and roofs can contain pollutants, which we do not want to infiltrate into the soil or end up in our surface waters. Therefore, it may make sense to filter pollutants from runoff rainwater before allowing it to infiltrate or to discharge the water.
